Cool - CMS #69

I love these colors this time around at Color Me Scrappy.  Maybe because they are deep.  I struggle with pastels, so this is a nice change.

My page doesn't necessarily go along with the "Back to School" theme, but the colors are there...

We were at Epcot here in China.  I wanted to capture the tile work that existed on the walls and ceiling, but of course, my camera wouldn't allow for such an angle.  So, I took 2 separate pictures and pieced them together.

Amazing - Challenge Yourself

I loved, loved, loved this challenge at Challenge YOUrself.

Challenge #9: Celebrate YOUr Age
Scrap your age, right now, today!
{remember to include YOU in the photo}

Isn't it challenging enough to have to include yourself in the layout, but now we have to include your age...  really?  My tip for you, just go for it!

To be honest, I didn't know exaclty how I wanted to go about this challenge, so I sat on it for a month or so.  Then, last weekend, as I was scrapping with my friend Pam, an idea popped in and I just ran with it!

Here is what I came up with...

I love all the colors.  It makes it feel like a happy page.

Just the facts!

This was the hardest part of the page.  This is chipboard covered with paper.  The skinny parts are very flimsy and they just wanted to come apart so easily.  Filing the nooks and crannies took FOREVER!

Just another close-up!

Hope you enjoy it and find some inspiration.

XOXOXO - Color Me Scrappy

Excuse me, but if someone could please help me find my mojo, I'd greatly appreciate it!

I'm not sure if it's summer or because we didn't travel anywhere exciting...  We've made multiple trips to the cabin, but that will be a before and after type album when we finally finish it.

You should check out the color challenge at Color Me Scrappy.

These colors are great, but to be honest, it was the picture that drew me in!  Ha!  A yummy margarita!  Maybe that will help with my lack of mojo!

CMS also has a great prize that is up for grabs this month. Definatley worth it!

You heard me right, so stop over and get your scrappy on!

Discover Michigan - Challenge Yourself

This was a great color palette to work with at Challenge YOUrself!.  To be honest, on my first look at it, I thought "YIKES".  All I could focus on was that lavender.  Lisa doesn't do lavender!

After I took a minute to breath, I started to focus more on the red and teal...  I also noticed how the photo was very soft and airy, so I thought that would be look I'm going for.

As a result, I came up with the following page!

This photo was taken on the shores of Lake Erie.  My mother-in-law rode our bikes across Michigan during the summer of 2013.

It was an awesome journey!  I saw parts of Michigan I've never seen and probably will never be able to find again!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving some love.

Wishes & Dreams - CMS # 64

Check out the latest challenge at Color Me Scrappy.  The twist this time around is to use a floral patterned paper.  Mine is a bit on the minimal side...

This color combo really reminded me of fall, but since it's June here in Michigan, I decided to go a different route.

This was in Toronto last summer.  Sawyer has a dream to see The Great Wall of China.  As we were walking the streets of Toronto, we came across this shop.

Needless to say, we got a bit of a laugh!

Family Adventure - Challenge YOUrself #7

Check out the latest challenge at Challenge YOUrself.

*********************************************************

Challenge YOUrself #7:  Oh Boy!
Create a layout about YOU AND THE MALE(S) in your life.
This could be your father, grandfather, husband, son, a furry family pet. {yes... we love our pets too}.
Remember to include YOU in the layout.

********************************************************

Since June contains Father's Day, I thought I would create a layout with my dad in it.  This is one of my favorite photos of us together.  We were at Kentucky Speedway not too long after my mom passed away.  He came to visit us at our new house and my boys were thrilled!

I used quite a bit of scraps on this LO.  It's kind of fun to look for pieces of papers that you don't have to trim or modify in any way.  For example, the star (which is really 1/2 a star) was just buried in the bottom of my scrap box... same with the orange strip.

A closer look...

The striped paper is the back of a sticker package.

I changed up my journal block a bit by adding some stamped words along with my handwriting.  I know not everyone likes their handwriting, so this is a creative way to add a bit of flair to it!

Fabulous Summer - CMS #63

It's June 1 already, which means that it is time for a new challenge at Color Me Scrappy.  As much as I love these colors, I struggle with pink.  I love these colors because they remind me of the carefree summer days that are ahead for my boys and I.  We love summer and have many adventures during summer break.  I struggle with pink because, well, I have 2 boys and struggle to find a use for it.

Here are the colors...

Aren't they just gorgeous!  Now, to overcome my pink dilemma, I went with the minimalist approach and concentrated on the other colors in the palette.

Last summer, we went to Niagara Falls.  It's funny that this picture even came out because my lens was wet with the mist from the falls.

In addition to the colors, there is another twist added in.  For this challenge, you must use at least 3 manufacturers.

I used...  Heidi Swapp: "fabulous", DCWV: pp and pink frame, Core'dinations: solid cardstock, Basic Grey: chipboard photo frames, Little Yellow Bicycle: butterflies, MME: chevrons, cloud, buttons, banner.
