Max Load - CSI #33

Still working on that guest designer position at CSI.  That is for the month of August, or at lease what is left of it.  I can't believe that it is already 1/2 way through the month.  Goodness, where has it gone?

This is Case file #33 for CSI.  Pam and I are both guest designers there since Peace, Love & Scrapbooking is sponsoring their site for the month of August.

Pam decided to make some changes to how her kits work.  Instead of subscribing to a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month commitment, you can take the kits you want, when you want.  I love this change!

Make sure to check out her site.  The August kits is FABULOUS!

Thanks for stopping!  Have a great day!

Island Beauty - CMS #10

I'm having a hard time believing that we are already at challenge #10. It seems like we just started. I guess that means that I'm having fun with it. I wish that we had a few more followers and that the traffic from the site would work it's way to my personal blog, but maybe that will come in time.

This challenge, I found the colors difficult to work with. When I sit down with a color challenge, the first thing I grab is my "scrap" paper. I see what I have there before diving into my other stash.

Here is the challenge...

Pink is difficult for me since I have 2 boys, so needless to say, I didn't find any pink paper... ribbon is where I found the pink.

I've been into doodling lately and thought that by putting circles behind the photo would really make it pop off the page.  I think I should have used a thicker pen, but I really like the effect.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping.

CSI - Case No. 32 - Wipe Out

CSI really does some amazing color combinations.  Sometimes, they really make me think because they are jam packed with colors that I don't normally pull, but other times, they choose colors that I have a large supply of.

This was the case this time around.  Tons of neutrals and blues...

Here is my take on it...

As you may know, scrapbooking a page at CSI is not just about the colors...  that is only part of the process.

C - Colors
S - Stories
I - Inspiration

You can see the colors from the pictures, but the S and I...

For the S, I had to use 2 or more of the following:
·      something translucent
·      wet medium
·      something grainy (e.g., glitter, sand, embossing powder)
·      textured paper
·      vellum
·      dots (inspired by the pattern on the starfish
·      round or somehow soften the edges of your photos or papers
mesh, burlap, gauze, or similar element

Can you see which ones I used?

For the I, I had to use 1 of the following:

·      Document a beach trip.
·      Journal about something you collect.
·      Create a translucent pocket or envelope for your journaling.
·      Document a transformation (inspired by the broken glass that turns into a beautiful treasure).
·      Use the first stanza of William Blake's poem as a jumping off point for your journaling:
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.
  • Inspiration Words: calm, seek, change -- use these as inspiration for your journaling, not just as a title

As you can see, I journaled about Sawyer and his wake board.

Enjoy and have a great day!

Guest Designer - CSI Case File No. 31

I am super excited to announce that I am a Guest Designer for CSI for the month of August.  I've been chomping at the bit to tell everyone, but of course, I'm sworn to secrecy...  well, not really.

Peace, Love & Scrapbooking is a sponsor at CSI and since I design for Peace, Love & Scrapbooking, they invited us to be guest designers for this month.  There are 5 challenges in all, so make sure to check back each Friday evening for the next reveal.

When I saw this first color scheme, I thought, "This is going to be HARD!".  But as I got going, it sort of just fell together.  My go-to colors are not normally this bright, so out came the paint.

All in all, I'm pleased with the result and it's always fun playing with paint!

I'd appreciate it if you left some love!

Color Me Scrappy - Challenge #9

I'm so happy that Color Me Scrappy has teamed up with Sketches in Thyme for this challenge.  I love following a color scheme, but adding the sketch challenge with it was awesome.  I love seeing everyone's result.  Even though the same colors AND a sketch was used, the difference in each page is fabulous.  Each take on it is unique.

So much talent out there!

Be sure to check out the other DT members of both sites!

Peek-a-boo CMS #8

Oh my oh my...  I struggle when I have to put all these saturated colors together on one page.  I'm more the type of scrapper that likes just a pop of color, but I guess that is why we call these challenges, right?  Overall, I liked the way it turned out.

Make sure to check out the challenge at Color Me Scrappy.
This month, we have a gift certificate from Peace, Love & Scrapbooking for one of the fabulos kits.

I used tons of chipboard on this oneeven layered chipboard...  and talk about heavy.

We were hiking te Grand Canyon during these photos.

U Look Good

I loved this day! We were at Dayton Air Museum in Ohio. The boys loved looking at all the planes. Some were really old, but some were modern. they were most intrigued by the bombs, some nearly as big as a car. Even though it was fun, it was a teaching experience as well, which are the best.

This was done for challenge #7 over at Color Me Scrappy. I managed to use some very girly colors (in my opinion) combined with a kraft background to make it a bit more masculine.

I hope you enjoy your visit.
