Family Adventure - Challenge YOUrself #7

Check out the latest challenge at Challenge YOUrself.

Challenge YOUrself #7:  Oh Boy!
Create a layout about YOU AND THE MALE(S) in your life.
This could be your father, grandfather, husband, son, a furry family pet. {yes... we love our pets too}.
Remember to include YOU in the layout.

Since June contains Father's Day, I thought I would create a layout with my dad in it.  This is one of my favorite photos of us together.  We were at Kentucky Speedway not too long after my mom passed away.  He came to visit us at our new house and my boys were thrilled!

I used quite a bit of scraps on this LO.  It's kind of fun to look for pieces of papers that you don't have to trim or modify in any way.  For example, the star (which is really 1/2 a star) was just buried in the bottom of my scrap box... same with the orange strip.

A closer look...

The striped paper is the back of a sticker package.

I changed up my journal block a bit by adding some stamped words along with my handwriting.  I know not everyone likes their handwriting, so this is a creative way to add a bit of flair to it!

Fabulous Summer - CMS #63

It's June 1 already, which means that it is time for a new challenge at Color Me Scrappy.  As much as I love these colors, I struggle with pink.  I love these colors because they remind me of the carefree summer days that are ahead for my boys and I.  We love summer and have many adventures during summer break.  I struggle with pink because, well, I have 2 boys and struggle to find a use for it.

Here are the colors...

Aren't they just gorgeous!  Now, to overcome my pink dilemma, I went with the minimalist approach and concentrated on the other colors in the palette.

Last summer, we went to Niagara Falls.  It's funny that this picture even came out because my lens was wet with the mist from the falls.

In addition to the colors, there is another twist added in.  For this challenge, you must use at least 3 manufacturers.

I used...  Heidi Swapp: "fabulous", DCWV: pp and pink frame, Core'dinations: solid cardstock, Basic Grey: chipboard photo frames, Little Yellow Bicycle: butterflies, MME: chevrons, cloud, buttons, banner.

U Make My Heart Flutter - Scrap the Boys

I was going through my typical inspiration sites and this month at Scrap the Boys, their challenge was to be grungy / messy.  What better way to describe boys?

This pictures was taken on Christmas morning (I know, I'm 6 months behind... don't judge) after all the presents were unwrapped and the wrappings were in a big pile, so my boys jumped in!

I love the fact that they had new toys to play with and they had more fun and laughter in this!

I started this page with 2 white pieces of cardstock.  One being the BG and one behind the mask I used to created the big circle.

I stamped over and over within that circle until I was satisfied with the result.  I believe I used 7 or 8 different stamps within the circle.  Then, using Tim Holtz inks and blending tool, I blended and smudged different colors.

The heart and the butterflies are Tim Holtz grungeboard that are painted with acrylic paint and then inked.

Added a couple layers of pp and mesh under the photo... stamped a couple of chevrons...

Bunched up twine and title and voila... it is complete!

Niagara To Do - CMS # 62

Hi everyone!  I'm here to post about the latest challenge for Color Me Scrappy.

I really love the muted tones in this color palette.  I could see myself using these in my home.

There is a great prize up for grabs for the month of May.  Make sure to check out the blog to find out the details!  Also, the first challenge for May is still up and running.  You have until the end of the month to finish both challenges.  It's been raining here, so I've utilized a lot of that time to scrap since I can't get outside.  Maybe you should do the same!

Here is my take on the colors.  The page is really an overall summary of everything we did in Niagara.

Thanks for stopping!

Stunning - Creative Scrappers

I just fell in love with this sketch from Creative Scrappers.

To be honest, I haven't participated in many challenges lately.  Basically, I've been just performing my DT duties and of course, running Color Me Scrappy.  But now that I've given up the reigns at CMS, I am going to have more time to create the pages I want to create.

Life is pretty busy right now.  We just bought a fixer upper cabin, so the DIY projects there alone will keep me busy too.  If you would like to follow along on our cabin re-do, I'm blogging about that to.  You can find the blog HERE.

Now, onto my page for Creative Scrappers.

Ok, so the first thing I'd like to mention is that my sewing machine was being very temperamental on this day!  It kept knotting up on me and just would not sew, so I just doodled the black frame around the page.  Not my ideal way to do it, but sometimes you just have to improvise.

Sometimes, I struggle with randomness.  I'm more of a uniform type of person, so for me to "randomly" place bling and stars is a stretch.  I'm never happy with this!

Well, thanks for stopping by!

you. me. - Challenge YOUrself #6

Welcome back to the May challenge of Challenge YOUrself!  The participation has been fabulous so far with this new challenge blog.  We hope it continues to grow!

This month, Challenge YOUrself is challenging you to create a layout about YOU and a female in your life.  The month of May contains Mother's Day, but it doesn't necessarily have to be about you and your mom.  It can be a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother or a friend.

In addition to the always required picture of YOURSELF, you must use the sketch below:

I chose to create a page with my friend Pam.  Most of the time, when Pam and I get together, we scrapbook.  With that being said, there are very few pictures of Pam and I together, because to be honest, who want to scrapbook a picture of you scrapbooking?  It sounds like one of those endless circles.

Pam and I have been friends for a long time.  We met when I still worked and neither of us scrapbooked.  After I had kids, and quit working, we went our separate ways, but reconnected and found out that we both enjoyed this new hobby.  It's been non-stop ever since!

US Falls - CMS #61

Well hello everyone.  Today, I'm featuring a new challenge at Color Me Scrappy.

This color palette was extremely difficult for me.  I struggle with any shade of purple and to be honest, I avoid it like the plaque.  But, since I am on the DT for CMS, I'm doing this page.

My supply of pinks and purples is very limited since I have 2 boys and I'm really not that much of a girlie girl.  In fact, I'm somewhat of a tomboy and a DIYer.

Either way, here is the latest from my scrappy space...

And a couple detail shots...
