Vacation Home

Ok, I'm finally getting back into the swing of things.  Being on vacation and then my husband's surgery really put a kink in my scrapping productivity.  It literally took me a week to really get things rolling again.

While on vacation, I missed a week in the 8-week challenge at My Scraps and More.  This week was the make-up week.  So, I went back to week #6 and found that we needed to produce a page that has some recycled product...  I also used the July sketch #10 from Get Picky.

The result...

Below is the recycled part...  the yellow and white sun in made of tissue paper from my son's "back-to-school" shoes.  I ripped a strip of the tissue paper, crumped it, painted it, rolled it, and then spiraled it into a sun.

Enchanted

Oh, the weeks I've had...  they've kept me away from my blog and from all the blogs I follow.  It's funny how difficult it is to get back in the swing of things when you've been away for so long.

Anyhow, this sketch inspiration came from My Scrps & More Challenge Week #7.  We also had to use a title that was from Taylor Swift's new album.  Color inspiration from Color Combos Galore.

This is the one part of the page I do not like.  Note to self, test the paint on scrap paper BEFORE you put it on your page!

Vacation

Well, I'm very gald to be home from my wonderful vacation.  I didn't get to go anywhere exotic or anything, but nothing beats seeing family and friends.  I got home last night and noticed my scrappy table looks so lonely.  While on vacation, I got to do a little scrapbooking shopping at some stores that I'd never been to with a dear friend.  I probably spent to much because technically, I don't need anything, but you all know how that goes.  The bags of new goodies are on my table begging to be used.  I have a bit of blog sites to catch up on, which I'm going to try to get done today.

My dear husband is having surgery and I'll be at the hospital all day today, but the plan is to find my next challenge and be back at it tomorrow.

How often do we really scrap a page about ourselves.  I've dedicated an entire album, A- Z, on just me.  Now, granted, most of the pages are empty, but all I can do is one page at a time.

My mom passed away last August and she left us with wonderful memories.  I'd like to leave more than memories to my boys.  I want them to really know who I am.  My likes and dislikes, my thoughts, my memories.  These scrapbooks I make are for them, something tangible they can cherish, along with the memories.

Hacker Family Reunion

I really had a fine time creating this piece.  I don't normally work with vintage photos and have a difficult time making my pages look vintage.  I found this red doily in the dollar bin at my local craft store and it was really my jumping off point.  Of course, the inspiration from Color Combos Galore made it a bit easier too.  They do wonderful work there.
