Fly High - CSI #110

Still trying to be creative today, but Ethan's math homework is keeping my in mom mode...

The case file at CSI is super cute...  loved the colors... but man did I struggle with this sketch.

I really like the idea of doing a pet page, but I'm still working on our travels from 2013, so felt I needed to continue the progress going.

My take on it...

I used:
solid BG
flowers (on pp)
jewels

Commuter Train - Creative Scrappers #262

I have the afternoon to scrapbook!  I'm excited for this time to be creative, even though I keep getting interrupted by my 2 boys who are home from school today.  I guess I'll take it when I can get it.

As I was browsing the challenge sites I normally visit, I came to Creative Scrappers.  They have an interesting sketch this time around.  It is below...

I loved the chevrons, so I kind of went for it.  I'm working on an album from our trip to Chicago and I didn't have 3 pictures I wanted to put on the same page, so I simplified it and only used one.

I also added a few other strips of paper instead of only the chevrons.  That's what I like about scrapbooking.  There really is no right or wrong way and hey, even if there was, I'm a rule breaker...always have been!

Anyway, here is my take on the sketch...

The BG and the chevron pieces came from Echo Park "Brothers" line.

Burr - CMS #56

Well, it's that time again.  A challenge from Color Me Scrappy!

Take a look at these beautiful colors.

Since it is the month of February and Valentines Day was just on Friday, I should have done a lovey, dovey type of page, right?

Well,

NO

I went the complete opposite direction.  We had an ice storm here in Michigan and thought the grays and blues were perfect for an ice shot!  Thankfully, the temperatures have warmed up a bit, but when I took this shot, I was just a few feet from my front door.  I wasn't adventurous enough to really step out on the ice...

I started with the gray BG, but sanded the top of the design off so that it would pop a bit more.

The title says it all.

I added some layers of pink... I've been liking pink lately, which is so not me.

Do you have a go to color?

Cheers,
Lisa

Our Destination - Purple Pumpkin

Earlier today, I went to my crafty space to organize.  I literally had to step over PILES of stuff in order to get to my desk.  Clearly, I needed to set some time aside to tackle this mess.  I set the timer for 1 hour and now my room is ready to be used again.

I'm always searching for new motivation, so I thought I'd search for new challenges.  I found Purple Pumpkin and was instantly drawn to their sketch for the month.

I love how unique it is...

Here is my take on it...

I started with this fabulous BG, but underneath the chevron was a little elephant holding a red balloon (cute, but not going to work with this LO)...

I gathered all the papers I wanted to use and was drawn to the turquoise and yellow combo (funny, because these are the colors in my craft room).

I knew I had to ground these too colors because my eyes were moving all over the page...  I wasn't quite sure what to look at.  I think the black washi draws your eyes to the photo.

And then, the upper corner looked a little lonely, so I gave it some love with a banner and a tag.

Thanks for stopping by.

Love is in the Air - CY #3

When I saw Lynn, from Challenge YOUrself, post this challenge, I immediately thought of my husband...well, it is February and Valentine's Day is right around the corner.

Requirements:
1.  We have to use the following color combo
2.  Create a LO about someone you love
3.  Include yourself in the photo

I then thought about what picture I wanted to use and I knew that this was the one.  It is from 10 years ago, but it is still my favorite picture of us of all time.  We were on vacation in Cabo San Lucas and as you can see on my husbands face, we were having a ball! It was one of the best vacations we've ever taken.

I knew that I wanted to give it a romantic feel, so I started with stamping the background with this stamp from Tim Holtz (script writing).  I can't read a word of it, but it sure looks beautiful.

Recently, I've made a switch in inks and I'm falling in love with all my stamps again (and I have a lot).

I also wanted to add a little whimsical feeling, so I kind of stitched all over and used multiple fonts for the title.

And then, to glam it up a bit, I added the lace, and sparkly hearts.

Voila!  It was complete!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'd love to hear some of your thoughts on the LO.

Disney...

I've been working on an album for some time now that is all about our trip to Disney in the Fall of 2012.  I've completed Epcot and these 2 pages are the last of the Magic Kingdom.

Just thought I'd share...

Went with a vintage theme with this one.  Seriously...doesn't that frame look like your grandma's old couch?

This one, I left kind of simple.  I really wanted the pictures to speak for themselves.  My boys aren't crafty, so they had no idea what a mosaic was...  I love that they told the Cinderella story using mosaic tiles.  It was amazing.

Thanks for stopping by.

I'll be moving onto Universal and Hollywood Studios next...

Hogwarts Express - CMS #55

I'm here today to share a page created for Color Me Scrappy.  The twist this time around was to use a sketch and the color combo.  I loved the brights of the color combo, but when I got around to doing the page, it turned out much more grungy than I intended...so I switched out the original pictures I had picked out and went with Hogwarts Express.
