What a Dad

This weeks challenge from My Scrap & More was extremely difficult for me.  We were to use only one manufacturer on a page.  I don't scrap that way, so, in a way, this challenge was REALLY a challenge.  The way my logic brain works is, if I'm stumped, I research.  During my research, I found out that EK Success is the manufacturer for K&Company, Martha Stewart Crafts, Jolee's, Inkadinkado, and Sticko.  When I found this revelation, it made this challenge so much easier.

As a result...

Create Your Own Fun

I never thought I would have to look in the garage for inspiration, but with this challenge, that is exactly what I did.  The 123 challenge at Our Bright Stars and Us required Brown, the word "Create", and the use of tape (of any kind).  As I was looking through my paint bin, I came across Frog Tape...  yup, green painter's tape.  I used it to wrap some chipboard letters.  I am pleased with the result.

Sketch inspiration came from Sketch Inspiration #225.

I wanted to try my hand at creating my own flower.  I took a 1 1/2 " strip of material, gathered it and made a circle.  I then cut the outside edges to make fringe and added the button.  I'm okay with it for the first time.  Modifications are needed in the future...

Comments always appreciated.  Have a great day!

Friends Forever

This callenge was from Black With 2.  You have to use black cardstock as your background.  This month, the color was baby blue and hearts.

I thought I was going to have a hard time with this LO, but to my surprise, it just fell into place.  I probably didn't spend any more than an hour (not including paint drying time).

The result...

Time Together is Priceless

Oh, what a challenge this was.  Week #3 at My Scraps and More required a 2 page LO AND paper that wouldn't normally match the page.  I hmmm'ed and haaw'ed over this for the weekend and it actually required me to make a special trip to the craft store (darn, right).  In the end, I am pleased with this LO.

In addition to the My Scraps challenge, I was also able to play along with Scrap Bingo at Scraptivations.  Using their Bind card, I lower left to top right including Brads, Multiple Photos, Tag, and 2 Alphas!  Fun!

So, for the paper that doesn't match...  pearls and fishing.

Enjoy!

At the Races

I searched and searched for inspiration for the following layout.  I managed to come across an old sketch from one of my Creating Keepsakes magazines from years ago.  Yes, I keep every copy!  The sketch was by Hiedi Sonboul from the Oct 2009 issue.  I didn't have enough pictures to do the entire layout, so I used the left half and then made my own for the right side.

I guess I did the right side old school...  you know, using my own creative juices from start to end.  Not to mention, it's a 2-pager.  Nearly unheard of by me...  LOL!

Anyway, the result...

Journaling kinda hard to read...  may end up redoing that on different paper.  The picture doesn't do it justice either.  It really doesn't look that bad in person.

Here we go again with the site rotating my pictures again.  Hmmmm.  And I so love my flames.  They required a lot of paint and a lot of inking.  The red paint was WAY to bright for this page, so I inked the crap out of it.  I am pleased with the result.

Love This Dog

Ok, so I signed up for that 8 week challenge I mentioned before.  Summer here, so it is very difficult staying inside to scrap on such a beautiful day.  My office is full of windows, so the sunshine and the cool breeze is blowing through.  I just hope and pray my papers don't go flying with it.

This is Challenge #2 for My Scraps & More.  I ended up combining it with Color Combos Galore challenge of the week.

Inspiration:

Result:

I've been working hard on the layering effect for 2 reasons...  it seems to be the fad now in scrapping AND in order to buy more scrappy stuff, I need to use up some of the others.

The cardboard piece came from some packaging of some chipboard.  Kind of funny I emptied the box in order to use it, but didn't use any of the chipboard it contained.  Their are NO rules to scrapbooking and I think that one of the reasons I enjoy it as much as I do.

Comments and criticism is always appreciated.  That's how we get better, right?

Love Love Love

Oh the inspiration that I find on a daily basis makes it difficult to do the things that NEED to be done.  I'd rather sit all day and scrap and play and be creative.  Now that school is out, my boys are not giving me the free time that I like.  Trying to be a good mom and give them some outlet for their energy on a daily basis is difficult.  Yesterday, we went to the water park, so today, I'm not feeling guilty about "doing" a page.

My inspiration came from White Whith 1, http://www.whitewith1.blogspot.com/.  I'm so into polka dots right now, so this challenge was right up my alley.  Enjoy!

For some reason, my picture keeps getting rotated...  not sure why and can't seem to undo it.  Crazy web page!

be Me

I, along with my friend Pam (http://peace-love-scrapbooking.blogspot.com/), are participating in an 8 week challenge at My Scraps (http://myscrapsandmore.blogspot.com/).  Week # 1 was a color challenge using the inspiration below.  There was also a need for some distressing and misting.

And the result...

For the life of me, I can't find my sketch inspiration.  I need to give credit where credit is due, but what can I say, but Sorry!

My colors aren't quite as vibrant as the inspiration.  I really took to the color palette of the lower left color swatch.

I first used a paper distresser to rough up the edges of the paper and then used water to mist the edges.  Using a small paint brush, I rolled the edges of the paper to curl it.  Then let it dry.  After it dried, I inked the edges.

The large brown circle was a syrofoam cup dipped in paint and kind of smudged around.  Also notice the mall blue circle...  it contains my fingerprint.  My boys loved that!
